Cloud 9

It's been almost a week since Sugar Mtn, and I'm still on a proverbial high. Despite the abundance of roads (fire, paved, etc) on the course, it appears that the event was well received. I was curious to know what the pros thought of the course...how it stacked up against other NORBA events (*I* thought it was a pretty tough course, but then I don't have anything to compare it to.)

Adam Craig had this to say about the climbing, "the steepest climb known to man..."
Jeremiah Bishop called it a "monster climb", and Geoff Kabush said that the course had, "Probably one of the most technical descents on the NORBA circuit..."

I'm glad it wasn't just me.

Time for some random pics from the weekend.

good job on the race!

but...
winning beginners often should be racing sport
and
winning sports should be racing expert

I try to avoid the arguements by racing clydesdale

I am stuck between the classes
stuck between being a fast sport and a slow expert

I often question if there should be a measure of quality of equipment

I ride with a bunch of guys
their heart rate monitors are one thing
but the power taps are another
often I tell them that people with power taps and coaches should not race sport

Thanks for the kind words...

The competition has certainly gotten stronger over time. In that NORBA race, I was seeing fellow beginners decked out in full team kits...they were obviously being sponsored by someone, so sport class riders w/ power taps and coaches doesn't really surprise me.

From what I could tell, some of the sport racers were going a wee bit faster than me, but most were around my pace (of course, I didn't have to do two laps). Overall, I think only the pros were going "super super fast" during that weekend. The climbing kept the speeds down. The winner of the Semi-Pro class only had an average speed of 10.5mph

I'll be checking your blog for those pics later on.
